An Important Note about New York State History

image

On this day after July 4th, a note about New York State history that is not widely known or not often shared. This past Spring we traveled to Saratoga Springs, NY. On our way up the scenic Taconic Pkwy we stopped and shot this picture. Yesterday, the annual Macy’s July 4th firework was held along the Hudson River (the display is no longer held along NYC’s East River). The Hudson River was first named, Muhheakkanituk – The Everflowing Waters – by the Mohicans, a Native American Tribe. The name changed when Dutch and English colonizers stole Native American land.
