(Must See Video) Apology For Slavery, Accountability and Reparations.

July 05, 2009 by BBN Editors,

BBN thought you might appreciate this nine minute discussion on "Hardball with Chris Matthews" about the recent apology for slavery issued by the United States Senate. Matthews believes that because "600,000" (his number) Pennsylvanian's fought against slavery the state should not have to pay reparations, and that southern states are the sinners. Matthews also said that northern states like New York and Vermont did not have slaves. He was corrected by Congressman Steve Cohen.

BBN thanks our member "Ricardo" for sending us this video along with this comment: "Something you might not have seen in the news: US Congress Slavery Apology and it implications for addressing current social inequality particularly for Afro-Americans. This is, in my opinion, a good glimpse into the American mind set of how prepared the country is to respond to this deep seated, compartmentalized, on-going chapter in its history."
